Macaroni and cauliflower cheese (I wondered if the two would work together as one dish; the answer is yes :) ), plus some of the cauliflower leaves.

I went on a walk in the woods with Sian and the dogs today and collected a bunch of stuff for the rats. So over the next week along with their usual veg they'll be getting a selection of: wood sorrel, field sorrel, watercress, dandelion, common plantain, bramble, chickweed and ground elder. They would have got some lovage and cow parsley too, but I'm no longer 100% on my ID.
Also twigs from: ash, beech, birch, hawthorn, blackthorn and willow.

Their 'normal' veg today with some of the above was red pepper, onion (I'm mean), runner beans and parsley.

Basically the only way I'll eat cauliflower cheese haha. Various other veggies work really well too, especially halved plum tomatoes on the top... *drools at you*

tonight, the boys have had vegetable cous cous salad with balsamic vinegar. They loved it although I was a bit worried about the sourness. But they do seem to like strong taste, they're rather partial to tomato chill mackerel too.

Yep, it's how my lot actually get variety since there's only the three of them.

Tonight it's lamb bones, plus grilled aubergine, courgette, and pepper, plus seaweed, plus peppermint tea to make it into a lovely soup, plus their Dr Squiggles... well they seem to like it anyway! :P

Also if you go at the end of the day they're usually reduced down to 4-11p :D

Hello hello thread.

I went to visit snais on Sunday and we went for a walk round her local woods and fields. Armed with bags, secateurs and one single glove :P
So the fresh food selection this week is:
Carrot greens
Bramble
8+ species of grass
3 cereal crops that I'm not exactly sure what they are, but one is barley and I think one is oat. We found random patches not in the field by the way, rather than stealing farmers' income.
Dandelion (all parts)
various Rumex sp.
Wild garlic flowers
(I'm sure that's not the whole list, but I can't be bothered to re-ID every single leaf)

And leafy twigs of:
Alder
Willow
Birch
Hawthorn (plus flowers)

Plus topped up with bread, turkey Happydog, rosemary, lavender, peppers, tomatoes, strawberries, spring onions/ baby leeks and anything looking a bit past it.
