Forget the bowl?

Post by Greyflintstone » Thu May 31, 2018 7:37 pm

Good evening everyone - I hope you have some sunshine in your wee corner of the world!

Quick, silly question...... When I fill the boys' food bowl up they promptly empty it and hide the food. Is it worth dirtying the bowl? Does anyone just "throw" the food in and let them forage?

Absolutely yes! :D

Scatter feeding is the best way to provide their main dry mix, and they really enjoy foraging for it. They eat what they find, stop when they are full, and don't stash - much healthier for them. :luck:

Great! Anything that reduces the washing up has to be a good thing :D

You may also find it helpful to skip feeding on the day before cleaning out, so they will make sure to finish up any bits that are still left.

Also - weigh out the right amount. They probably need about 15g each per day, but it depends on what mix you feed, some are more nutrient dense than others.
