This list is by no means exhaustive and as products may change from time to time, it is sensible to get used to checking nutritional values for yourself. Packaging in the UK will give values per 100g, so calculating percentages isn’t required, and grams per 100g equates to the percentage of a nutrient. For example, a cereal that has 9g of sugar per 100g is 9% sugar.

Cereals List - Group 1
Cereals which are fine for regular use (either <5% sugar, or 5-10% sugar, but entirely from fruit)

Wheat

Shredded Wheat Bitesize (1% sugars)
Protein: 11.8g; Carbs: 69.9g; of which sugars: 1g; Fat: 2.6g; of which saturates: 0.5g; Fibre 11.9g; Sodium: trace.
Quaker Puffed Wheat (2% sugars)
Protein 11.5g; Carbs 74g; of which sugars: 2g; Fat 2.5g; of which saturates 0.5g; Fibre 8g; Sodium 0.02g.
Tesco Value Wheat Biscuits (2.5% sugars)
Protein: 13.7g; Carbs: 69.5g; of which sugars: 2.5g; Fat: 2.5g; of which saturates: 0.4g; Fibre 7.5g; Sodium: 0.27g.
Weetabix (standard) (4.4% sugars)
Protein: 11.5g; Carbs: 68.4g; of which sugars: 4.4g; Fat: 2g; of which saturates: 0.6g; Fibre 10g; Sodium: 0.3g.

Kallo No Added Salt Rice Cakes (2.2% sugars)

Oats
Porridge Oats (these are Jordans, but values should be similar for any plain oats) (1.1% sugars)
Protein: 11g; Carbs: 60g; of which sugars: 1.1g; Fat: 8g; of which saturates: 1.5g; Fibre 9g; Sodium: trace.
Weetabix Oatibix (normal size NOT bitesize) (3.2% sugars)
Protein: 12.5g; Carbs: 63.7g; of which sugars: 3.2g; Fat: 8g; of which saturates: 1.3g; Fibre 7.3g; Sodium, 0.15g.

Flaked Barley, from Holland & Barrett (0.1% sugars)
Protein: 7.9g; Carbs: 83.6g; of which sugars: 0.1g; Fat: 1.7g; of which saturates: trace; Fibre 6.5g; Sodium: 0.03g.

Cereals which I wouldn’t give rats at all (sugar levels are from added sugar, and are over 5%, or are sugar from fruit and over 20%). Anything involving the words frosted, chocolate, honey, maple syrup, caramel, or golden.
