Introducing two groups of males?

Post by HaleCry » Sat Jul 02, 2016 6:31 pm

Hi everyone! :D

I know there is a lot on here about introducing rats, but I couldn't find answers to specific questions. So, my 3 boys are a year and 3 months old, and today I adopted 4 4 month old boys who are currently in quarantine in my bedroom.

I have never introduced rats before as the 3 were my first and they were siblings. My question is, how do I go about introducing the groups in a couple of weeks? I've heard it's better to introduce one rat at a time, but is that one rat at a time to the other group or only introduce 2 rats at a time?

I'm a little confused with this and would appreciate some help
Thank you :rollred:

Have a read of this about the carrier method, which should answer some of your questions! I would just introduce them all at the same time.

I'd do them all at once too - but take it all extra slowly as introducing teenagers to bucks in their prime could be fraught.

That you for your replies, will check out the carrier method. Out of curiosity, have I got a good chance of the introduction going well and being successful? I get that 7 make rats is a large group, and that none are neutered.. Have I given myself an impossible task?

It will all depend on the boys characters. I have a group of 9 and 2 of them have been neutered. If you take the introductions slowly you will have a better chance of success. :luck:
Officially ratless. Groot, Star-lord, Yondu adopted by another rat lover.
