Re: New antibiotic: Veraflox

It may be due to the ammount of rats I have, 17, and the resp problems that appear fairly often (Most are over a year old) A tablet may have not sufficed compared to how much in a bottle over the time it took to use up.

Re: Advice needed - Front paw amupitation

Just gave them a call. They're keeping him in overnight along with my mouse (Which I found odd, he was only there for castration)

Edit: just curious, has anyone had an animal kept in overnight? If so does this add to the charges etc.

Re: Vets. . .UGH!

Sorry to hear about your experience with that vet. I have two that drive me nuts so much so I don't make appointments on the days they're in if I can help it. Two 20something year olds, Perhaps you can mention Veraflox to a better vet in the future, it's a new drug out thats superior to Baytril. A t...

Thanks for the reply Philosophyfox, I've been scouring the internet looking for outcomes on this. May you redirect your friend? It would be greatly appreciated.

Re: New antibiotic: Veraflox

Oh and just to mention, it's only a tiny bit more expensive than a full bottle of baytril. The veraflox I bought was £26 if I recall.

Re: New antibiotic: Veraflox

I've been using this since just after Xmas, it works wonders, smells like white chocolate and some rats will eat it straight up. (Never heard of the tablets though) Had scuffles over who got to lick my finger when trying to administer it to one doe, of course she got it and the others didn't. But it...

Advice needed - Front paw amupitation

Have a rat currently in surgery hes got a cancerous tumor over his front right elbow, my vet called telling me that he's got 3 choices, let him not wake up, remove the arm or wake him up and possibly end up putting him down soon as it's rapidly growing. Problem is he's never encountered a front paw ...

Re: Choking/Coughing [Not urgent, just an observation]

Took her to the vets yesterday along with a few others he couldn't feel a thing, he said it's best to keep an eye on her, if anyone was curious.

Choking/Coughing [Not urgent, just an observation]

I've noticed this for some time now. Kiwi seems to show signs of choking every so often when eating. She does not have anything in her throat that I can feel and her respitory is fine. Is she just being a pig with her food? She will rench and cough, put her ears back then return to normal after maki...

Re: 3 year old, diarrhoea concern.

The diarrhoea has stopped but her foot still seems slightly swollen, although she darted across the sofa with a bit of turkey boxing day faster than any of the young does. She is using it also but it still does seem off color and thicker than the other. I didn't administer metacam for her as I didn'...

Re: 3 year old, diarrhoea concern.

I've just her and her sisters out for a free-range and found her foot rather swollen and shes limping on it. I DO have metacam but I don't know how her kidney condition is to apply it to her while she's just had long acting steroids last thursday. Her diaroea is still persistant, I couldn't get hold...

Re: 3 year old, diarrhoea concern.

Still no change in her diarrhoea. I found that she was eating the poo tray pellets too. No idea why. We've took them out of the poo tray for now, took her to the vet today and got the 20 year old. *Sigh* She asked me if I changed anything in her diet, only a new brand of bran in her mix and she told...

3 year old, diarrhoea concern.

Hi guys, Spice had a slow acting steroid injection on Thursday last week that lasts for a month for her lung disease. Vet wanted her on a 5 day course of baytril orally, shes about 220g - 250g she was on 0.4ml. Tonight she had a terrible case of diarrhoea which left a horrible smell, she had been wi...

Re: Vaginal bleeding had 3 injections for Pyometra

Just thought i'd leave a close to this thread if anyone was following it and remembers/wondered how she turned out. She had an ear infection recently which shown again the loss of hand movement on her. (It's a never ending battle with this poor girl) But shes almost as right as rain again fully reco...
