Re: URI - help with the best medication please

It he is very decongested, perhaps asking for a decongestant such as bisolven from the vet may help. I have used it before in conjunction with ABs and it does help clear their nasal passages and gives them an easier time breathing. If you notice him getting a bit bunged up, a small piece of chocolat...

Re: Is it time?

That is an utterly beautiful tribute. Resonates a lot with me and my little Merlot. She had a pt, but was so strong, so so strong.

Thinking of you xxxxx

Re: Buck grease

Hmmm I can't seem to post pictures. Photo bucket has a heart attack if I try to resize any of them :? I only say moult because the last few cleans there has been a lot of fur on their hammocks. If they shouldn't moult could that mean barbering? Although I haven't noticed any fur loss. As for lice, I...

Re: Kidney disease - worried and confused, advice please!

So sorry to hear Eddie isn't doing too well. I don't know much about kidney disease so I can't really give you any useful information but please don't apologise for rambling, it's terrifying to not know what is wrong and frustrating too, and it is what we are here for xxxx

Buck grease

I am posting this in health as although I suspect it is just buck grease, I want to rule out anything nasty. So I have never had boys before, so I knew a few things would be new to me (the one I am dreading is penis plugs) but anyway, their coat looks good, they are moulting a little but it is getti...

Re: teeth

also shows you're observant, and that's very important with ratties ;)
I jump at the first sign of a sneeze now  but with so many rattie illnesses, I would rather err on the side of caution!

Re: teeth

I worked out I was worrying for no reason  I knew rats could separate their lower incisors as they have a joint in between but had never actually seen it. After looking at some pictures online it was obvious that was all it is.

teeth

Please could you post some links/ pics of rats that have misaligned teeth? I know their lower incisors can kinda 'move' but Nimhs seemed to be quite out of place- one further back and one forward. I have a feeling its normal but I just want to check. He's eating fine.

Good luck tomorrow, i will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you both :luck:

As for what to do in the meantime just make sure you keep him hydrated. If he is off his food offer whatever he fancies and lots of watery stuff like cucumber and watered baby food if you have any :)

Re: Post-neuter swelling is worrying me!

Post op swellings are quite common. I cant remember what they are called but they are a build up of fluid and will be reabsorbed naturally. If you are worried, the vet can drain it but sometimes it is best to keep an eye on it :)

Re: Post-neuter chewing bedding?

I have heard (and i may be completely wrong) that sometimes vets use an opiate based painkiller after such operations and if that is the case, it can cause them to be somewhat obsessive and 'high'... Hence going a bit crazy on the fleece chewing.

Someone correct me if i am wrong
