Re: Females With Greasy Fur.

I wouldn't be all that surprised if they were 4 weeks or less when you got them and still had their baby fur.

Re: Not out of the woods yet

Sneezing could be the result of various things: stress, allergy, illness. Do they have other symptoms (other than the porph)? Personally, I wouldn't be giving any antibiotics unless they have other signs of illness as illness is only one possibility. Have you changed bedding recently? Have they any ...

Re: Trapped hand bleeding and swollen

I wouldn't use antibiotics at all. She doesn't have an infection. Antibiotics would do anything for pain or swelling.

Re: Sidney- just old age or something more sinister?

I don't really have any ideas, I just wanted to say i'm thinking about you & Sid. I have an old boy who goes up&down hill every other day with hld. It's sad. If he keeps getting worse and you think he isn't happy and isn't cleaning himself, the best thing for him may be to put to sleep. I had to do ...

Re: ): old age or hld?

Sorry for late reply. Albie's doing okay at the minute. I'm still unsure what exactly is wrong with him, but I suspect a form of hld. Some days he can hardly walk and drags his back legs in a way that seems typical of late-stage hld. Other days he can walk almost like normal. It seems one of his bac...

): old age or hld?

My oldest boy Albie is around 29 months now. For about 6 months (maybe longer) he's been wobbly on his feet, for a while we thought he had hld but then he seemed to get better. He's been up& down hill a bit, but doing okay most of the time. Today he seems a lot worse, he's really bad on his feet now...

Re: Weight Fluctuation

lump- need advice asap

As some of you may know, my old girl Monk has a suspected PT. Because of her age I have decided to keep her comfortable until the time comes to PTS- I don't want to put her through medication if it's only going to drag it out for her just for my sake. So anyway Tonight i've found a lump on her, just...

Old age or something else?

Monk is now about 27-28 months old. She's started to go somewhat downhill the last few days, possible a week or so. She's getting a LOT more baldy (she's a rex, and was balding, but everytime I look at her she seems more bald). She's also getting thin and frail looking- she still has a bit of a bell...

Re: How long do you free range your rats for?

I have 2 groups. They each get 30 mins a night, sometimes every other night. I used to have them out each an hour a night but now i'm back to uni and don't have as much time. I did compromise with them and get them an SRS so they have WAY more room than they used to and have very active layouts, sca...

scratching & bald patch

One of my girls seems to be scratching a lot at the minute. I have checked and can't see any mites or lice on her or any of the other girls or boys (all share an srs). She also has a small bald patch, like a thin line about 5mm long and 1mm wide, give or take. It's on her lower tummy. There's no wou...

Re: Limping Ratty

One of my boys seems to hurt himself a lot. He's old and very eager to play and get food before anyone else so I suppose this is why. The last time he hurt his leg I didn't bother taking him to the vet. He limped, but was happy in himself and was still messing about like a lunatic, so I figured he w...
