Re: Urgent; bleeding from ear?! *Warning, picture*

I've been advised up to .1ml per 100g before, it's at the higher end of dosing though, but if he's 400g I'd say at least .2 up to .4ml.
I'd also keep an eye on his weight just in case.

Re: Sick rat, not sure what's wrong.

Thanks for all the advice, it's a lot to take in. He' actually looking a lot better tonight, he's pretty much his normal temperature (hard to tell without a thermometer..) and he's eating well, drinking and is moving around a lot more now, coming to the door when I go into the room again and getting...

Re: Sick rat, not sure what's wrong.

Thanks for the reply. I've posted on another forum too and similar stuff has been said, no ones really sure and it's hard to tell. As for symptoms he's still not showing any signs of any breathing problems as of yet, so I guess that's something good. He's not puffing up today, though he does look a ...

Sick rat, not sure what's wrong.

So I was away for 2 days, back last night, all rats in good form, out for treats, no problems. Got up this morning to feed them and Twoflower didn't get out of his hammock (normally out as soon as I go into the room). Put food in, still stayed in his hammock. Called him a few times and he came down....

Re: HLD and twitching in hind legs

One of my rats that had HLD had twitching legs in the very latter stages of his condition. By then he'd completely lost use of his legs and it was never something I worried about. It got worse as he deteriorated.

Re: Explorer and SRS Owners

I have does in the top half and males in the bottom half, but I said top for both because all of them prefer to be in hammocks/beds at the very top of each cage. They all rarely sleep in beds lower down or on the floor.

Re: Urgent - Blood in urine

How did the vets go?
I've experienced this once when I first got one of my boys, was a UTI and cleared up with baytril (though I just read someone else's post that it may not be the best AB?..)
Anywho, I hope he has a speedy recovery.

Re: Not wanting to start a argument. ETA re replies to threa

Another random suggestion. I know for instance the post redrach mentioned where she felt there weren't enough replies. I remember reading it and thinking that's been answered well she doesn't need more so didn't post. Then when I popped on today I saw there were still problems so posted some more i...

Re: Not wanting to start a argument.

Also, I just re-read that chris, you specifically mentioned obits. I posted an obit for 2 rats last month. It received no replies for days and almost a month later it only has 4. Again, I'm not particularly bothered personally, but I think if I relied more on this site I'd be a bit hurt and offended...

Re: Not wanting to start a argument.

I agree with chris. I'm only on here on occasion, but I do reply to everyone I can give advice too. When I ask questions but I feel most people ignore it. For instance, this week I've posted about introductions and a girl who has a lump. Each post received less than 5 replies. Whereas there's posts ...

Re: Possible lump?

Thanks. It just so happened my vet's off on paternity leave until tomorrow and I don't trust the other less experienced vets, so we're booked in for tomorrow night. There's been no change in the lump as of yet and she still seems her usual pingy happy self.

Possible lump?

Schuster has what looks like a lump down by her lady bits. I've only noticed it tonight, and it's not that big, maybe a small pea. It also doesn't really feel like a lump, it's not hard, it doesn't really feel like there's anything there and she doesn't mind me poking/pushing/prodding it. I had wond...

Re: HLD - am I doing the right thing?

I kept my HLD boy (Albie) in the big cage as long as possible. I used vet bed when he couldn't get through the substrate anymore and I put plastic ladders back in so he could get about and plenty of hammocks to catch him if he fell. I also didn't have platforms, so I put them back in and quite low d...

Re: Females With Greasy Fur.

I wouldn't be all that surprised. That's a tiny carrier and they are pretty small looking in it. And it is the same petshop that told me my girl Bran was a 4 month boy who had been put on for getting females pregnant. She was 4 weeks at most and still had her baby fur when I got her.
