Re: 21 month old doe showing weakness.

Can I have some reassurance. We're 5 days into antibiotics and after the steroid injection. Whilst she's eating her strength and mobility has declined. When free ranging she's happy on ground level but remains there rather than climbing like her siblings and today I'm beginning to see her circling l...

Re: 21 month old doe showing weakness.

Thanks both, she's eating and drinking. We're on day 3 of full antibiotics. She's herself when plodding round the rat room with the others but not as spritely as she normally is and is off balance. I've noticed yesterday she's curled her tail as if to keep herself in line. She's certainly enjoying t...

Re: 21 month old doe showing weakness.

Took them all with me. She wants to rule out an inner ear infection as seeing her walk on a flat vet examine table it does look as though she has a slight head tilt. So we discussed the more sinister possibility. We've opted for a shot of steroid and a course of Baytril for this week and to see how ...

Re: 21 month old doe showing weakness.

Thanks Caza, she is appearing very 'stumbly', I've made an appointment at our vets for their opinion. I've had them all out in our rat room today and she appears to have less strength to me so we'll see what our vet suggests tonight.

Thankyou again. I will keep you posted.

Re: 21 month old doe showing weakness.

Thanks for your reply Caza, I know it's an IF but if it's PT. what can I expect or do? Might do me some good to have a read up on some threads on here to as I know I've seen it mentioned before.

Re: 21 month old doe showing weakness.

No, no other signs of any illness at all. She just seems slower and not as nimble around her cage. Our cage is quite big and I'm studying her more around her routes down and she's just looking not as steady to me. She's eating, drinking fine and enjoying her free range time scooting round the floor.

21 month old doe showing weakness.

Hi all, I'm looking for advice please. I've tried to make the title as detailed as possible. For those that can't remember. We have 4 does. Two @ 21 months and two @ 12 months. All active, with no health issues at all to date. One of my elder does who has always been the lighter of the older two and...

Re: How often to wash hammocks

I now know most of the free newspapers available in my area: when they come out, where they get left, paper thickness, sheet size, number of sheets per issue, stapled or not, smeariness of ink...  This reminds me of a cashier that innocently commented to my 13 year old that she always n...

Re: Two sets of kittens - intro together or separately?

Oh no, why a rotten few weeks? I've neglected board reading as we've been busy. Nothing to advise as I know someone else will but as always I'm super excited to see your new boys and look forward to reading the suggested advice. We thought of you the other day. Our girls are in a room of their own d...

Re: Agressive pregnant rat??

Hi, I've no experience of rat pregnancies. But I found your other thread here http://www.fancyratsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=29804&p=278487&hilit=Pregnant#p278487 where Mary offered you some pretty sound advice. I imagine, as with a lot of expecting animals, she wants to be left alone to her o...

cyber ratty wrote:Yep - holes in ping pong balls are a must, and not a problem. Rats have the ability to close their mouths behind their front teeth so that they can gnaw something without any risk of bits getting swallowed, don't you just love evolution? :D .
Oh wow. That's glorious. I had no idea!
