Re: Who has had explorer/SRS trays made?

I'm thinking of getting the perspex trays made and I was just wondering, for the top tray, did anyone request the company (I think sheet plastics) add the hole in the base or did anyone add a hole themselves?

Re: Raw meat?

I did for a bit :) I stopped mostly on account of changing numbers of rats and the knock-on effects of it going from being a really easy way to feed protein to a much more complicated way. I'd be more cautious with fish than meat on account of parasitic burden. Thanks! I freeze the raw fish I give ...

Thanks!

Re: trays (not custom made) I can buy for explorer?

Why do you not want a custom made one? A plastic tray (nice and deep) will only cost about £30. I'm a bit hesitant as I ordered custom metal trays a few years ago (as part of a group order on the old FR forum) and mine never arrived. Can I ask where you get the plastic trays made please? If there's...

trays (not custom made) I can buy for explorer?

I sold my SRS (regretting it now) and so the explorer will be coming out of the garage soon. My black trays are chewed to bits and are pretty much unusable. I used to use plastic trays from ikea (Komplement i think) but they don't see to exist anymore when I look on ikea's website. They weren't perf...

Raw meat?

I raw feed my dogs and it got me thinking, can rats have raw meat/fish/bones/offal or does this need to be cooked? I've only ever fed rats cooked fresh protein before so I wasn't sure if their systems could handle it raw.

If anyone can share their experiences with this I'd appreciate it :).

Re: Free Roaming

When I've needed to rat proof a room I've use correx (corrugated plastic) sheets taped together and I find that works really well. You can make a playpen with solid walls in any room and put the rats and all their toys in there or you can use it to section off a room. In the past I've sectioned off ...

Re: Fresh foods my rats ate today

It consisted of eggshells filled with cranberries, sliced red and orange peppers, cucumber, tomato and beetroot, which i should really save for cleanout day, it turns EVERYTHING pink! Cooked they had mashed potatoes, parsnip, peas, sweetc...

Re: How would u mix this?

RR 11a is a complete mix so you could feed this on its own if you wanted to (supplemented with calvicet and daily essentials 1). You could use harrisons banana brunch and rupert rat together as a base mix for a shunamite style diet. The base mix should be 50-60% of your overall mix. To this you can ...

Grooming/ Brushing Rats

Hi, i usually give my rats a quick brush after free range. They seem to like it and its a nice way to bond before everyone goes back home to their cage. At the moment i use a soft bristled toothbrush, i was wondering if anyone had anything else they use to groom their rats? Thanks!
